Many people don't pay anywhere near enough attention to the words they use, IMHO. Then if you use the same words on them, they get all bent out of shape. OR, they allow as how you are "too sensitive". "Don't be so nervous!" "Don't be so SENSITIVE!"

I don't find this amusing, I find it destructive, and it makes me very, very angry.
