My therapist recently recommended monthly sessions and we settled on three weeks apart. She feels I am doing really well and I don't need to go as frequently. I agree I am doing well, but I still carry a lot of fear of relapse and frequent check ins gave me comfort. I'll move to monthly in a while if I continue to improve.
My pdoc also changed the frequency of my appointments at my last visit. I was going monthly and he moved me to every three months. This gives me a bit of anxiety, but he said I'm stable and don't need to be seen as often. He said he is pleased with my lifestyle choices and the strong support system I have at home and he felt confident I would come in more often if something shifted.
It seems the frequency you are on is perhaps indicated when a patient is doing well on their current mix of meds and has been emotionally stable for a period of time. If this is not the case for you I would seek a way to be seen more often. You shouldn't have to suffer through paranoia if you know the right thing for you is a different frequency. I hope you're able to find a treatment plan that works and gives you a greater sense of comfort.
