Can anyone offer a comparison of their experiences with the 2 drugs Invega and Rexulti? Or if not, just some insights about Rexulti or about switching from any AP to another.

I've taken Invega for 10 years and am dissatisfied with it. I don't think it does much for my depression. My doctor has hinted that after we've increased the dose of the latest antidepressant that I'm trying (Viibryd), we might change from Invega to Rexulti to see if that helps more.

I'm really worried about getting insomnia with Rexulti. I know it's more activating, while Invega is more subduing. I tried the original version Abilify for a month many many years ago, and it did indeed cause severe insomnia so I elected to go back to Invega. I wonder if Rexulti might be more tolerable for me than Abilify was.

I am also interested in the better side effect profile of Rexulti over Invega. I lost about 10 lbs. on Abilify, then gained it back on Invega. I have a BMI of 27 and high cholesterol so I would like to lose that weight.

I'm quite worried about switching. I worry about getting stuck with the new one until my next appointment. It could have severe side effects or the dose could be ineffective. It's an extreme struggle to try to get a walk-in appointment at my clinic if something is going wrong between appointments.
