Who are the mental health workers? Are you referring to your therapist or to staff in a psych hospital? I recommend seeking out a behavior analyst who specializes in autism. I’m assuming that “joshuas-mommy” means you’re a woman, right? Your therapist may have spent enough time with you to conclude that you are not autistic, BUT autism in females is different than autism in males, so he/she may not have the expertise to diagnose you properly (autism characteristics/behaviors in females is not something doctors know about yet, often not even therapists). Also, everyone can relate to at least one autism characteristic, so diagnosing yourself online is never a good idea; extensive, weeks-long testing by a professional is necessary.
