Mountainstream states, "I'm a failure at life." Do all we who discuss this use the same definition of "fail" and "failure"?
Personally, I can point to both formal and informal tokens of "failure" or "non-success" in my life. My ability to feel anything, including "failure", is blunted.
It is too easy to find others who label us "failures" according to the way they see life and what they value. It can be exceptionally difficult to ignore what others think.

(And it can be exceptionally difficult to determine and then internalise what we ourselves value, particularly when we swim in a social ocean filled with those proffering their own values.)
Ultimately I lack confidence in my ability to answer my own questions. I want to help Mountainstream, though.
