I could have someone live in our spare room to help with my ex’s insulin pump, eg monitor his dosages of insulin which seem off too often. I can talk to my grumpy son who resents bipolar about moving his dad to San Diego at a future time. I can rely on our excellent internist to help more with getting additional specialists and decision making. I can see if I can get a concierge doctor for him here or in San Diego. Most of them in Phoenix are only in the ritzy side of town . I would have to drive if he doesn’t get the insulin under control. I can apply to the VA to give him help bathing here at home. I can get out more.
OK family caregivers, list the ways you can get help. AARP is starting local am support groups for caregivers and has a forum. Some large associations like the American Heart Association have caregiver online forums to share tips. When I had a rare eye disorder I received precious advice from the president of the local chapter of the relevant association.
Apple News has articles every day about info, research about preventive medicine, research on drugs that will revolutionize medicine, wellness, etc. Did you know that there is a disorder that seems like Alzheimers that can be cured? It is a condition of fluid on the brain. They estimate that 20,000 people in Britainhave this. Did you know that there are 13 kinds of dementia. The dementia association is becoming much more successful in raising money for research! Donate today to your favorite cause if you can. Hugs, everyone.
