Probably a lot of victims of CEN just stick to the depression and anxiety forums. It doesn't seem like very many people have even heard the term Childhood Emotional Neglect. There's also a bit of a stigma involved with it. If you're an adult and you talk about how your parents didn't love you or care about you or show you love, people will think you're just whining and not taking responsibility for your own behavior and challenges. Like, it's okay to be depressed and have anxiety, as long as you don't blame your parents.

Which is really dumb, if you think about it. Most of the parents I know try very hard to be good parents because they understand that their children need a stable, loving home and family in order to grow up to be healthy, confident adults. ...But at the same time, these same people criticize adults who do grow up to be terribly dysfunctional because of bad parenting. People are so illogical. They know it's their responsibility to raise kids to become healthy adults, but if a neglected or abused child is raised by a bad parent and so becomes a dysfunctional and mentally ill adult, then we blame the child (now adult), not the parents.
