Like almost all antidepressants, Cymbalta triggered mania in me, which likely turned mixed. I am almost certain it was prescribed during a hospitalization (with a moodstabilizer and antipsychotic) and continued only briefly afterwards. It was a period when I was hospitalized or in IOP much of the year. A few times (I think including during that period) I was rehospitalized straight from IOP. I have bipolar type 1.

I know that some people with various types of bipolar disorder can/do benefit from some antidepressants, but others can't/don't. In my particular case, I benefit most from moodstabilizers and antipsychotics that are helpful for both poles of the disorder.
