My therapist told me that when a patient have been struggling with symptoms for many years, they usually change the diagnosis from PTSD to this one. She also told me that in the new ICD version, nr 11, Complex PTSD will finally be included as a separate diagnosis, but that isn't implemented in Norway yet. But when it is, they might use that on me instead.
I've read a lot about PTSD (complex and "normal"), but I don't know this one at all..

rereading your post I noticed you mentioned the ICD 11 as in it is not out yet....
the ICD 11 is already out and in use. short version in order to be diagnosed with Complex PTSD using the ICD 11 .. you need to meet the same diagnostics as regular PTSD ....plus....the CPTSD diagnostics... its harder to meet both sets of diagnostics at the same time because there are some differences between the two and there is diagnostics/ problems/ symptoms and other accompanying symptoms that are not available to just anyone doing a google search.
example in one (PTSD) though some do, there is a diagnostic that you dont actually have to experience the trauma just witness it and in the other (CPTSD) you actually have to go through extreme repeated trauma the likes of torture, slavery, genocide, long term domestic violence, long term child abuse. in one (PTSD) you have lack of affect where as in the other (Complex PTSD) you have regulating affect problems not lack of affect. one you have neurosis .... in other words they both can sometime counter act each other but yet to be diagnosed with CPTSD you still have to meet the diagnostics for PTSD. very hard to get diagnosed with CPTSD.
Getting diagnosed with CPTSD is not a matter of changing ones diagnosis because they have had PTSD so long. you do have a special set of diagnostics, symptoms and problems that you have to meet.
here is the link to complex PTSD keep in mind that not all the diagnostics and criteria and symptoms are listed here. there are some that only treatment providers have access to...
