Hey WMD,

Respect is an incredibly important thing to maintain with both friends and family. In a sense, it is a bit easier to let loose, and have a less formal, and at times, less respectful (in a general term, of course) relationship with friends. However, I do believe that respectfulness can suffer in the familial relationship, not out of the lack-of-care for family, but when someone feels safer around parents/siblings. This feeling of security can lead to one acting in a less respectful way, particularly when upset/angry.

Just my three cents.
