Not too many people could have appreciated it was a misunderstanding that brought on the choking. It's stating the obvious, but you had to become keenly aware of social "nuances" in order to survive your family of origin.
"It's not your fault, dear Fuzzybear." I believe that to be true. I can post those words; you can read them. I have little confidence, however, they can get through a depressive cloud as thick and persistent as the one surrounding you.

Still, I post the words with silent hopes they may have some unseen effect.

you had the psychological equivalent of a simple cold, then
good CBT
might help some. I've been haunting these forums long enough to realise you do not have the psychological equivalent of a simple cold.
