Psychiatric nurses are dealing with all kinds of problems. For one, the healthcare system culture is rife with abuses. Most definitely they are eventually burdened with empathy burnout and compassion fatigue. While they get into the industry to help, overtime they can become corrupted and begin to project further abuses to those who are vulnerable and in need of help. This is a classic and well documented problem. I could go on and on and I have already posted on this thread, but if anyone would like to know more about the cultural and systemic problems, know that psychiatric nurses are not the only ones guilty of abuse.
