Actually, I was saying direct applications (e.g., easy apply) get very low attention if any, but you don't lose anything if you try. As the name implies, applying is easy, which means you just attache your resume, and your phone no. and email are shared automatically from your profile, and hit "submit". That's it. No filling applications and answering questions, no nothing.
I receive emails like what you are describing. I don't reply to them. They are suspicious to me. And how did they get your phone number and left a voicemail if you are not registered with them?
I have been reached out by recruiters on LinkedIn though, with a job description and if I am interested, and several resulted in phone interviews. I responded to that, after making sure they are legit. But asking for date of birth and other private information is suspicious.
