This happens to me as well. I like showering though - consider it a treat - even if I don't shampoo or soapify. It's just one of those little things that sometimes brings me back to life.
Life can get a bit too unmanageable if we try to accept it as a positive thing all at once. So, instead, I like to focus on the little things when I feel as you do (which happens frequently). Little slices of happiness that I take when I can get. Like a good nap. Or a frosty root beer. Eventually you can start to combine them to make larger portions of your day happier.
As for actively banishing the sad, I suggest writing something - a paragraph, or a page, or a novel even. Write until you're done. The key is to ask yourself what nowheretorun asked you, and BE HONEST. The indefinable nature of our feelings can be extremely frustrating, even if the feelings are good. Don't worry about what to DO with the writing. Send it to a friend if you like, post it here, rip it up, throw it out. Doesn't matter. I won't lie to you and say it isn't tough, it most certainly is, but take the time and do it, and I think you'll have a better understanding of how you feel, and possibly stumble upon a way to help. If you don't, perhaps your articulated feelings might help someone here on to a discovery that can help you.
*adds a hug* Good luck, Beth!
