You've been doing a wonderful thing, and I truly hope that your niece really appreciates all that you've done for her and her children. I'm sorry that she decided to have children with someone she doesn't trust to take care of them that's water under the bridge. You have to do what is best for your immediate family. Two years is a long time, you've given her a wonderful gift! You should not feel guilty in the least. You've made their lives so much easier already, it's time to make your life a little easier!

As for your niece, I'd think long and hard about quitting a job with the hopes of government assistance. I don't know how it is there, but here, assistance isn't that easy to obtain, and if you quit a job, it's even harder.
