I know the OP posted a while back but you should focus on getting admitted to the university first. The visa can be taken care of later - the school's international office should help you out if you're admitted. Go to your department's website and check out the application requirements. Focus on meeting them and applying. If you have a letter of acceptance (admission) from the university, you should easily get Canadian visa.
