Some years later, T2 helped me grow from functioning primarily as a child to an adult, but she was very different from T1 and didn't 'do' transference, so I didn't experience her in the same way even though she was a lovely T. We looked more at goals together. T3 wasn't a good match for me - she came across quite clinical and cold at times, although she did help me a lot with a specific situation in my life. Current T is extremely empathic, caring, open and giving, and like you I've not experienced a T quite like her before. She lets me text her on holiday if I need to, offers hugs and is just a really lovely heartfelt person. I feel also that she can meet me where I am emotionally and that I will be able to grow from the work with her because she is allowing space for all of me, not just some of me.
I agree with your T that some therapies don't work for some people. Also, some therapies don't work for people at certain times as well. Its extremely subjective and this is where therapy can be such an elusive profession.
It's wonderful that you feel this T can help you. Wishing you well!

It's very different going from very cold clinical therapist to a very caring understanding t. Thank you for sharing it's helpful to know im not alone and i talk to my t about this yesturday and it helped me understand that every therapist is so different in how they do things.
I know i wont have a issue with her im pretty good knowing where the boundaries are with. Im a very sensitive person so any type of therapy thats very cut and dry approach i don't seem to do well, it's nice to go into my sessions and comming out feel like i am making some good progress even if it's very small. My other t's i could always sense they where not there for me, it's very nice.
