I have the Mirena IUD (has progesterone not copper). Its kept my periods away for years. I'll need to figure out if I want another Mirena at age 50 (3 years). My GYN won't take out my current IUD until I'm at least 50. I could take it out myself but then my heavy periods could return and I don't want that.
