We used to have fried Spam and eggs in the winter on super-cold days. Powered us through lots of shoveling, ice skating, and snow-fort-building!
I think we also used to have it chopped up with potatoes and onions in a hash browns kind of way. Mom used to call it "blizzard food", because it would stay in the cupboard and be super-handy if you couldn't get to a store. I still keep a can or two around in the Winter, for emergencies!
The thing I would love to try, since I've made some jewelry and have done a fair amount of metal working, is to try cloisonne' enameling. I could experiment with colors, and really flex my artistic/ jeweler's muscles. Whenever I see beautifully done work, it always sends a shiver up my spine.
