Wow, I would say no way!! I did the depo shot for 6 months, and I gained the average 15 pounds!! I was horrified when I weighed myself because all of my clothes started to get snug!! So I went online one day, and read that it is an average of 5-15lbs weight gain. I couldn't wait to get off of the depo, I will for sure stick with the pill from now on because I have been on the pill since the birth of my son (2 1/2 years ago) and tried the depo last fall, for six months, now back to the pill, and my weight has gradually gone back to where it was b4!! But anyways, good luck with your decision.
