My favorite line to my psychiatrist is "not everything is clinical". His response to me is "you lack insight". I never see when I'm manic. I have to be told. I know all the words. Hypermotor, pressured speech, word salad, delusions of grandeur, irrational spending, magic thinking, I could go on but they don't mean anything to me.. It really does take a psychiatrist to diagnose mania because we as patients often as the clinical term says "lack insight".

Stay in touch with your psychiatrist. He's the guy to do the diagnosing.
