Talk about changes that have happened in education, reaching the college level, I was rather shocked and not in a good way that in my current online course (Geology), which has a combination of lecture videos to watch and textbook readings (which combine to provide the information required to think about things and do the homework/quizzes/exams/discussion posts) no longer requires the textbook reading. The prof is posting more videos students can watch to replace said textbook reading. And it's not like anyone even has to buy the textbook - the one she's using is free online. The only college courses I ever took that did not require reading were phys ed classes! This just seems wrong!
