It's great for when I'm in an episode because people can leave me the hell alone and I can work whatever hours I want. For example, I can work from 9-5, or 7pm until 3am (not that I would do that, but I'm just saying I can). Like 99% of jobs out there in my field require you to be in the office. So, there are pros and cons and pay is just one part of the overall equation.
Personally, I would rather be happy and get paid less than have a job which pays more and I'm miserable. Trust me, I had a job that paid very well when I first got out of college and I f_cking hated it. I took a pay cut for my current job and I couldn't be happier.
IMO, mental health is more important than pay. Even if you had to drive far, is the job nice? Do you like it? etc. etc. Sometimes we have to compromise to get what we want. Ideally, we all want a high paying job at an amazing company that's close to our house, but the "total package" is hard to come by.
Just my 2 cents.

That is the problem I had the total package but then had to go out on disability and everything changed. By pay too little I meant when a few companies called me they asked my salary and they said they couldn’t come close to it so they wouldn’t consider me anymore. Even when I said for the right job I would take a pay cut they saw that as a red flag as to me desperately wanting to get out of my current job. I hate job hunting.
