Have you considered talking to the credit brureau?
I had a $50 charge on my credit report that brought my score down 100 points just when I was buying a house. The credit bureau go the vendor to take it off my score if I paid it immediately. I did, they sent over the letter, my score went up 100 points.
My point is.. maybe there is something the bureau can do since you were scammed.
