I was put on the Emsam patch after a failed attempt to end it all. Was on it for, like, maybe two years. I tolerated it well for awhile. As mentioned, no real side effects I could appreciate. It was super-expensive, I do remember that. The sticky stuff stayed on my shoulder pretty well, even when I was running a lot. Everything was fine. Then, one day, I became incredibly anxious and developed awful akathesia (the overwhelming urge to move some part of my body). My heart started racing and I was absolutely freaking out. Turns out I had developed serotonin syndrome, an uncommon side effect of MAOIs.

Anyway, had to d/c it and try something else. I must say, in terms of its efficacy, I wasn't all that impressed. I expected more from the supposedly 'gold-standard' MAO inhibitors. But then, that's the thing with meds, isn't it? Everyone seems to respond in his or her own way.
