At a mall I used to shop at, a woman was shot and killed by a coworker who had been harassing her. The harassment prior to the shooting wasn't merely the result of him being socially awkward. He had threatened her on multiple occasions, and it should've been reported to the police. She reported this to supervisors, and they advised him to stay away from her. Obviously, he didn't listen. Maybe going to the police wouldn't have prevented the killing. Maybe it would've. We'll never know.
