I brought it up to my family doctor, who then referred me to a psychologist for an assessment. If you can, I would try to get a referral to a psychologist/psychiatrist who is educated about autism. Not to be too discouraging, but in my experience therapists either don't know anything about the spectrum, have inaccurate assumptions about the spectrum, or will be put off by you identifying something in yourself that they didn't identify. I've yet to find a therapist or social worker who actually knows what autism is, but have had many doctors who were educated and connected to good resources.

And I can empathize with the fear/dislike of labels, but knowing what is and isn't part of your neurology is incredibly liberating. Goodluck <3
