In the UK a skin-friendly and safe lip balm should be free from parabens, phthalates and SLS (Sodium Laureth Sulfate which is a skin irritating surfactant often found in shampoos), instead containing beeswax which would be a natural skin conditioner and vitamin E to moisturise. I used 'burts bees lip balm' for skiing and subsequently any cold, wet and windy weather in the UK. It's 100% natural ingredients and doesn't cost much. Between £2 and £4, tube or tin and may be available in other countries, too.

There may even be a DIY lip balm online. If you want to try making this yourself, I suggest you look out for ingredients such as cocoa butter, coconut oil, beeswax and almond oil. You would probably need a double boiler.
Thanks for this!
