One way I heard of is to taper off cigarettes from the level you are at till you get below 10 a day. Then start to make smoking something you only do at scheduled times. This gives the body time to empty out of dependence on nicotine. But then also scheduling alternate relaxation activities instead of cigarette breaks. Maybe a healthy snack.
Another tip is to do 3 cigarettes a day where you consciously feel the smoke entering your lungs and the feelings you get inside. The idea here is to get to the actual experience like mindfulness and what smoking does to the body.
