It's only happened once for me, where I have gone to see a doc who has 'known' about me before I met them but it was really helpful. It kinda helped to break the ice- there was stuff I didn't want to just 'come out and say' so she was able to refer to her notes and ask me about the stuff that I hadn't said...I didn't have to bring it up but we were stil able to discuss it with out any major awkwardness.
