Today is my b day and that means I only have 11 more years until I can retire with my pension.
I don't know how I am going to do it. I am at the point where I am holding on.
I have decided I have to start to implement some changes at work. And hopefully this will do it.
1. I hate my e-mail. I send an e-mail to someone and expect a response and don't get one for hours. It seems that I am the ONLY person in the world chained to that e-mail box and, I am, because I am always waiting for a response. So effective Monday I am going to check my e-mails when I arrive and do my business... shut the e-mail Box until 12:00 PM, do my business, and then check it again at 2:30 PM. I work in a job with meetings and I often keep my e-mail open and then don't hear what was said in the meeting. NO MORE. If I go into a meeting... no e-mail.
2. I am DONE checking my e-mail after I leave or during off hours. I mostly did this incase of an issue with my condo (use that e-mail) but I am done with that too. I work 8:30 to 5 and that is it.
3. I am going to lunch, every single day. I will walk around the building if I have to but I am leaving my desk. My boss is routinely not available from like 12:30 to 2 so it is wasted time anyway.
4. When I get to my desk I always forget about my life... and never get things done for me. I am going to devote 1/2 hour every day at 11 am to me.
5. I am going to get a calendar / to do list for me every day. I used to have a routine of making a list for myself each night at 4 PM on what I wanted to do tomorrow but I got out of the habit.
