Meetup can be a good way to find interesting things to do with people too.

I've been to a local meetup for board games - it was awesome! Just social enough, without being overwhelming. You're sitting, playing games, so it's not physically taxing. There's some chatting, but it's an easy level (b/c you are also focused on the game), not too intense. And, while they tend to be scheduled to go on for hours - nobody minds if you come a little late or leave a little early. Not a big deal at all!
