I am just coming into this discussion late but, oh man, I am so sorry you are having to go through all this. These joint replacement docs all have their own way of doing things, in my experience. Not sure exactly where you are located, but see if you can research the knee replacement guys and gals there and see if you can find the name of one or two that don't force people to wait to an arbitrary age in order to get the procedure done.
