One other thing that came into my mind while reading all this @lillib sort of alluded to, but, what about looking into something like a book club germane to one or more of your interests? And, as she mentioned, maybe pursuing some of your academic interests through conferences or clubs? Do you have a pet? There are tons of groups and clubs for pet owners, too. Just a few thoughts.
