St. John's Wort works for me, if I'm consistent about taking it, that is. SJW works in about the same way that the SSRIs do, so taking it along with the prescription antidepressants intensifies the effect and would be essentially an overdose. Sometimes a combination of meds is stronger than an increase of one of them, so don't combine it with other meds unless your doctor tells you otherwise.

I also hear that SAM-E works, but haven't tried it myself. SJW helps with anxiety too, but SAM-E apparently doesn't. That's what I've read, anyway.
