And yeah in terms of inserting yourself, it is probably not a good idea to do it with people you don't know. It's one thing if you see a group of friends your close to and you join them in their conversation but it's another thing to insert yourself into a conversation with people you don't know as a means of trying to get to know them or make friends. You're right, not everyone will want to talk. Some are more private than others.

yeah you would think it bad to just insert yourself into conversations or initiate with strangers isn't a good thing but that just kind of shows yours (and my) perspective on social interactions, whereas there are quite a number of people that see nothing wrong with that. I don't like it but it's not like I don't experience people that just want to pop in and say hi for no apparent reason. lmao. I find it awkward and intrusive but I know also that this is just my own personal take on it.
