I've done well with most jobs, no significant problems. The one job I left (ghosted, actually) was when I was 17 years old. I was hired as a temp at the holidays as a salesperson/cashier at Macy's. Initially, I was quite excited to be a high school girl and be hired at a "fancy" store (as it was back then).

I was assigned to "linens." Now what 17 years old wants to work with a group of crabby old ladies in towels and sheets? Not many, I dare say!

I did make it through November and December, hoping I would be let go once the New Year approached. Alas, it was not to be. Personnel was happy with my job performance and hired me as a permanent salesperson. This time, I was assigned to women's clothing. On top of my job dissatisfaction I was battling what I now realize was a bout of depression.

I struggled through January, February crept by at a snail's pace. Then came March with lovelier weather and that was it for me. During the first week of March I called in sick and simply never went back. What a relief!

So, that's the story of my 4 month relationship with Macy's.
