A clinical psychologist is probably your best bet, in my opinion. She knows about things like major depression & when you have a nervous breakdown. She will send you to a psychiatrist or other medical doctor if you need meds, because her doctorate isn't in medicine, it's in psychology. She studied lots of things about the mind & the brain & behavior. She can give you skills & encourage you. I don't know what the average rate is. But $200. sounds reasonable. Maybe others here at PC will know. If you can afford it, I think you should give her a try. If she isn't right for you, you will probably gain a little bit of knowledge from her & you can take that with you when you try someone else. But maybe she's the one you're looking for. I'll be crossing my fingers for you.
