It depends.
If you truly have ingrown toe nails and have a history of them then the best thing to do is have a partial nail removal.
they give you a numbing shot which hurts. They then cut along the side of the nail and permanently removing that part of the nail. they use a solution to kill the nail bed there so the nail doesn't grow back. It will be not as wide this way....but you will never have another ingrown toe nail again. This takes more work for the podiatrist. Don't let them just remove the whole nail.
