Its like a phone call. It demands your attention. It causes you extra keystrokes to eliminate something from your screen.
Apparently the mentioner doesnt trust that you love them enough to come back to them without the mentioner demanding you do it immediately. WHY DONT YOU TRUST THAT I LOVE YOU???!!!
I guess you could say it triggers some of us?
