Those of you who live in the frozen north are going to laugh at the idea of us dealing with cold in the Sunshine state, but we do.
I have electric heat in the house, plus a fireplace. I set the heat in the house around 68 to 70 when I'm home and wear layers to stay comfortable. I set the thermostat to 60 when I leave for work to conserve energy. I also have a space heater I use in the bathroom to warm it up more than the house.
I use the fireplace for heat I keep the glass doors on it closed because I read a fireplace draws heat out of the house and up the chimney.
HappyCrafter, 78 in the winter!?!? That sounds WAY too high. Why don't you experiment with temps in the mid to upper 60s and how that works for you?
