I find payslips so confusing.

Doesn't help that I'm working two different jobs with strange hours e.g. shifts that may be 3 hour 15 mins, 2 hours 30

I feel so stupid
I once was handed a check around the holidays for nearly double my usual; when I asked why, payroll was called and it turned out I had been due a raise months ago that wasn't given---and I never noticed. Don't feel stupid. You weren't "on top of" something that you generally shouldn't have to worry about. It might help to have someone review the payslip with you so that you can have a more comfortable "relationship" with that piece of paper which can be confusing to many....you are not alone.
