I turned 57 last month. When Mozart was my age, he had been dead for 22 years.

Getting older does not really bother me, it beats the alternative. My father is 81, and is often reminding me that I am getting old. I guess it is payback for calling him old so many times.

For all those people who are contrasting the world today to what it was like at age 17, things have changed a lot in 40 years. The Beatles were topping the charts with "Hey, Jude". There were approximately half a million American troops in Vietnam. Mickey Mantle was still playing baseball. A computer was the size of a large room. Some people wore Nehru jackets, but they went out as fast as they came in. No iPods, we actually had to use a phonograph. Or an 8-track.

It wasn't all that bad.
