Yes it is scary, but I think its also worth noting that its not so much the formula that CAUSES these things.. but the lack of breastmilk that increses the risk. Breastmilk protects against these things therefore when you formula feed, you get increased risk. That doesnt mean that formula is inherently dangerous though - just that breastmilk is much better in certain areas.
