That is how my parents act around people they don't care about. But if they wish to impress, they can be the most engaging/ charismatic/ gregarious/ flirty / caring... They are experts at sweeping you off your feet at first. They are also experts at psychological manipulation. I hope I am making sense? But once you know their tricks you will find none of that superficial charm even remotely attractive.
