If you've put off the dental for a long time, I'd save up for 6 months to a year and find a dentist you really liked who would treat you better and wasn't gruff or in a hurry? I wouldn't be able to get myself to go to a place I thought was going to be hurtful or loud/"busy" and where I knew I was going to be uncomfortable.
