I think some people just go through the motions with things, but the questions are "Do you like Christmas and do you wish Christmas was fun? Or wouldn't you really care?" If you do care, then I would think the motions are worth it. If you don't, not as much.
My husband is like a little boy and loves every holiday and his birthday very much. I, on the other hand, would be just as happy to let the holidays and my birthday pass by. For years, I have wished we could forgo having a tree. I suppose I do like the wreath on the door, and I kind of enjoy holiday flower arrangements, but that's it as far as decorations. Maybe a nice meal? But presents? A hassle, but I know they're just my feelings.
The above doesn't mean that I don't enjoy special days. I try to make every day possible special and joyous. Obviously not all are, but many can be. I don't need a date on the calendar to dictate that. Also, I love the idea of love and forgiveness. I don't need a holiday to remind me of that.
