Is it common for a psychiatrist to require that many tests? I think it's great that she's so concerned but I'm concerned something's wrong.

Yes your Pdoc is being a great provider ... before any psych meds all possible health problems should be ruled out. It’s sad so many providers don’t do this first.
All the testing is going to show her your baseline physical health. So then you and her can start to work on your psych health
