Thank you for posting this, Sarahsweets. There has been increasing talk about making this nationwide here in the US, from advocacy groups as well as some current political candidates. I stand 100% behind this move and am so glad that some states are taking the initiative.
I made an attempt 3 years ago and ended up calling 911. They helped me, but the I think the help would have been more efficient from professionals who were trained in these specific matters. Emergency responders can't be expected to act as counselors. This issue is so complicated and widespread that it needs to be its own service. Far more lives can be saved with this measure becoming nationwide.
