I'm no longer on psych med's anymore. But, when I was, my experience was that they didn't resolve all of my mental health issues. They helped. But I still had to work to keep myself on an even keel, so to speak. It's possible, I suppose, that your friend's crying spells suggest there needs to be some modification in the medication(s) she's taking. Or it could simply mean that psych med's alone aren't going to take care of everything. She's still going to have to work day-in & day-out to cope with her mental health concerns. Perhaps the best thing for her to do would be to discuss what she's experiencing with her prescriber. Seeing a mental health therapist, in addition to taking psych med's, might also be beneficial if she's not already doing so. But, of course, that's her choice.
